Hi there...I’m Lilly Mae. My story is a bit of a sad one, but I believe I can have a happy ending! My owner passed away and I found myself at animal control, which was a very scary experience for me...I really did not like all that noise and commotion. I’m a senior gal and had lived a quiet life with my senior owner.

A kind foster parent at Ruff Start Rescue saw my picture and decided I just had to be sprung from there and brought into a home environment where I could relax. Once I arrived at my current foster’s home, I got a whole room to myself to really decompress. It took about a week before I was brave enough to interact with my foster. Once I made that step though, it took only a few days before I was a purring, rolling, biscuit-making lover.

My foster mama couldn’t believe my transformation! I like to decide on my own time when to reveal my sweet, incredibly affectionate nature. I love to be held in your arms and get my purr machine really going, or roll on my back and make biscuits in the air! Sometimes I reach out and gently boop my foster on her cheek or nose - she thinks it’s funny every time! I guess I can be kind of a goofball! My foster mama has noticed that while I have settled in and improved a lot, I just don’t like big noises or lots of action. When I get alarmed by a loud noise, it takes me time to feel calm again. I’m seeking out a home that is quiet and calm, with safe places for me
to be up high or hide in, with adults or older children who understand me.

I have had urinary issues in the past, so as a precaution I am being fed kibble and canned food that are specially formulated to prevent those problems. I’m sorry to say that I just am not comfortable with other pets (cats or dogs). We went really, really slow with introductions but I still just don’t like to see them or hear them. I am 12 years old and my foster mom thinks that maybe I haven’t actually been around other pets, ever. Maybe I could get along with another kitty if we went really slow? I’m not so sure, but I do know that I absolutely ADORE people, and that’s who I want to spend time with! My foster mama has given me a 13/10 rating on cuddling, and says I’m a Level 5 (expert) snuggler!

I’m excited to meet my match and become queen kitty in my forever home. Do I sound
like someone you could open your home and heart to? Love, Lilly Mae.
