Oh hi! My name is Arnold. Thank you so much for stopping by my page! I was saved by Ruff Start in November of 2014 and have been searching ever since for my forever home.
I came to Minnesota from a shelter in Texas. Before coming on transport, I was diagnosed with Mange and put on medication. I was starting to feel better, but shortly after arriving, my foster mom noticed my hair was falling out again. She took me to the vet and they put me on more medicine. I am all better now and I think I look fantastic!! I have no other health concerns, so please don't let this scare you from meeting me.
I am extremely shy, so I get really scared around new people and in new situations. My foster mom calls me a nervous nelly. I also struggle with something foster mom calls leash reactivity. When I'm on a leash and new a dog approaches me, I get so nervous that I growl. My foster mom and I work with a professional trainer who helps me with my anxiety and fearfulness. I will improve with training, but this most likely will last my entire life. I am looking for an adopter who understands my introvert personality and will love me anyway. I will probably never want to go to a dog park or go to a party with new people.
I LOVE the two resident dogs I live with. Having them around is very comforting to me because they show me that new people and places aren't so bad. I could wrestle and play with them for hours. There are also two cats in the house that I love. I chase them and whine when they run away from me. My foster mom is trying to break me of this habit, but they are just so interesting. I would never hurt them though!!
One of my hobbies is playing with my toys, especially the tennis ball. I LOVE to play fetch. I also enjoy watching TV with my foster mom and dad. I have my spot on the couch and will watch for animals on the screen. I bark at the animals when I see them. I don't understand
why they don't respond to me. I also like chewing on my bones. I don't look forward to going for walks, but once I'm outside, I remember that its fun. I walk well on a leash and would make a great running partner!!
I go in my kennel while my foster mom and dad are at work. I also sleep in my kennel at night. I am completely potty trained. I will lick you to let you know I want to go outside to go potty.
I would love a forever home of my own! I've been waiting a long time. Wouldn't you like to meet me??
A note from my foster mom:
Arnold is an amazing, loving dog. Though he is fearful of new situations and people, once he has a chance to settle in and get to know you, he is so loyal. He is extremely gentle and very smart! He has long legs and can RUN, so he would make a fantastic jogging partner. He would do best in a quiet home with an adopter that is patient, understanding, and is willing to continue to work on his training. He just wants to feel secure and loved. I am more than happy to explain his training in more detail and provide you with tip sheets. If I was allowed to have a third dog, I would adopt him in a heartbeat!
All animals are in foster homes located throughout the Twin Cities & Central Minnesota. We do not have a facility. *
