Hi my name is Aberdeen! I came up to Minnesota from Loredo, TX. My foster mom was surprised to learn that I love snow! I like digging and lying down in the snow and I don't even get cold very quickly. I absolutely love playing fetch with tennis balls! I even bring the ball back and drop it!!! I also like squeak toys, belly rubs, and lying on the couch. I sometimes cry for a few seconds when I go to bed at night in my kennel, but I settle down very fast and sleep through the night until it's time to wake up. I'm pretty good on a leash. I don't pull, but I have a tendency to zig zag a bit. My foster mom says I'm really smart and a people pleaser, so she thinks I'll be easy to train.
I'm a pretty cautious girl, but it didn't take me very long to warm up to my foster family (which includes my foster mom, dad, and their 10 and 13 year old daughters). Now I love to follow them around, cuddle, and play with them. New situations make me a little nervous, so it's best to approach these things slowly. Recently, I learned to go up and down steps and go in and out the front door (my fosters made hot dog trails to encourage me!). I also got a bath, which was scary to me, but I never got mad, I just held on tight to my foster mom (afterwards it looked like she got a bath too!). I'm making good progress on potty training. I haven't met the two little resident dogs here yet, because my foster mom wants to give me time to settle in and feel comfortable first. I'm also not sure how I feel about cats.

An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal.  Please check out our website, www.ruffstartrescue.org for more details and additional pictures on any of our animals! All Ruff Start dogs and cats are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, dewormed, and on monthly flea/tick and heartworm prevention (dogs) as well as heartworm tested (dogs). Ruff Start Rescue is a foster based rescue. Animals are located in homes throughout Minnesota. We do not have a facility where animals are kept.
