This is Bellatrix! Bellatrix is a shy girl who will take awhile to get used to being in your home. She has been with her foster mom for over a month and STILL runs whenever she sees her. If you are very patient (and sit very still), you might be able to lure her out with some treats though. She really likes treats! If you move slowly you may then be able to scratch her under the chin and around her ears. She loves that, but only on her terms. She also likes to play with and chase dangly toys. That could be a great way to bond with her!
Bellatrix would do best in a very quiet home. She's a nervous girl and doesn't like dogs, cats, or little kids being in her space. She would probably do best as an only animal so she could explore without being disturbed.
Bellatrix will require patience on the part of the owner. She is definitely not quick to warm up and will probably hide for awhile. Its best to just let her be and let her come out when shes ready. I think with a lot a patience and understanding (and quiet!), she will eventually come out of her shell.
We highly encourage adopting kittens in pairs for their emotional and behavioral well-being. It is an amazing experience to watch the lifelong bond that forms and that you get to be a part of. We are not trying to push more kittens out the door. If you are thinking of adopting a single kitten we want to prepare you for behaviors you will almost certainly see and have only the kittens’ best interest at heart, and your satisfaction as an adopter and pet parent. At Ruff Start Rescue part of our mission involves education and we would like to make sure you are making an informed decision and hopefully avoiding any issues that can come up. Here is a link to more information on Tarzan Syndrome (Single Kitten Syndrome) and another on the benefits of adopting kittens in pairs.
An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal.
