Hi there! My name is Poppy and as you can see I am just the cutest little guy with the prettiest markings. I was born in an old shed behind my foster's house and was lucky enough to be trapped and brought inside with my 2 siblings and mama cat. Even though my mama was great to me and kept me fed I needed help. I had ear mites which caused a terrible ear infection, and I had a bad neck wound that needed some care. Mama had the same injury on her neck so most likely something got too close and she came to the rescue! My hair near the area is almost grown in and soon you won't even know anything was ever wrong. I'm told I am the most outgoing of the 3 kittens and I learned that playing with people is fun and getting pets are actually pretty cool. I allow my foster mom to pick me up but we are still working on the cuddling aspect. I am starting to trust more and therefore allow it more though. See, before my foster family I had never had any interaction with humans. All of this is so new to me so I just need some time to learn that people are nice and that not every noise means someone is coming for me. I would do best in a quieter home that doesn't have dogs (or a dog that is mellow and can give me the space I need) and no small children due to the quick movements; a quiet family that is patient and willing to go slow with me as I take a little time to warm up. I also need to be adopted with my brother Tora. He and I are best buds and want to grow old together. I promise it is all worth it!!! I have no litter box issues and I am told I am amazing with the scratching posts aka I don't mess with the carpet in the room. If you are looking for two gorgeous grey boys to add to your life I am it!
In the meantime if you have questions or are interested in me, p
lease fill out an adoption application at www.ruffstartrescue.org.
We highly encourage adopting kittens in pairs for their emotional and behavioral well-being. It is an amazing experience to watch the lifelong bond that forms and that you get to be a part of. We are not trying to push more kittens out the door. If you are thinking of adopting a single kitten we want to prepare you for behaviors you will almost certainly see and have only the kittens’ best interest at heart, and your satisfaction as an adopter and pet parent. At Ruff Start Rescue part of our mission involves education and we would like to make sure you are making an informed decision and hopefully avoiding any issues that can come up. Here is a link to more information on Tarzan Syndrome (Single Kitten Syndrome) and another on the benefits of adopting kittens in pairs.
An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal.
Please check out our website, www.ruffstartrescue.org for more details and additional pictures on any of our animals!
