Name: Pepper DOB: 12/17/2015 Weight: 14 lbs Adoption Fee: 375.00 Name: Pennie DOB: 12/17/2015 Weight: 14 lbs Adoption Fee: 375.00 *Fenced in yard and a canine companion  required for this special gal!*  Hi, my name is Pepper and I came all the way from the streets of Texas with the help of Ruff Start Rescue! Because I have been on the streets and likely mistreated, I am learning to not be frightened of people and the day to day life of humans, I have come a very long way the past couple of months and my foster Mom and Dad are so proud! I was rescued and transported with my sister and everyone thought we were bonded but we are both doing better now seperated. I have my own special cozy nook in the guest room at my foster home, I spend most of my time here but I do venture out into the hallway and around the house. My foster Mom plays fun food finding games with me to build my confidence. I like toy puzzles and different things to search for food. When my foster family eats dinner, I like to sit in the doorway of my room and watch them and they have been tossing me healthy "people"  food like scrambled eggs, boiled chicken and all sorts of tasty things which is helping me explore even more! My foster Mom has been reading to me and this helps me learn that people are good and I always get special treats during this time. I listen to classical music and it is really calm and quiet here - I hope for the same environment in my forever home! I live with dogs of all sizes but it appears I might be a little intimidated by the resident dogs here because they are big! I am curious about them and I do not mind if they visit me but a confident small friend would be really great for me! My foster Mom does not touch me often because I shy away at times, so she is letting me decide the pace of us bonding and I really appreciate that. I am not afraid of storms which has been really exciting because most fearful dogs are. Since I am not used to living in a house, I am not potty trained to go outside, but I am using my poddy pads perfectly. I have really pretty brindle fur, the sweetest eyes and cutest ears. Time and patience are what I need so I can adjust to living in a new house, having a yard, and a family. I need a home with a fenced yard and young children would likely be too much for me. I would also benefit from positive training and even have a trainer come into the home to work with me, like my foster Mom has done. I was heartworm positive and have finished my last set of treatments, so I am currently on exercise restrictions, which is no problem for me because I am not very active due to being fearful.  If you have room in your home and heart for me, I would love to find my forever home! My foster Mom is experienced with fearful dogs and will be happy to help you in any she can to transition us. I am not a plug and play dog but I am definitely worth the patience and love to help me get there! Are you the special person I need? In the meantime, if you have questions or are interested in me, please fill out an adoption application at www.ruffstartrescue.org. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal. Please check out our website, www.ruffstartrescue.org for more details and additional pictures on any of our animals!   All Ruff Start dogs and cats are spayed/neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped, dewormed, and on monthly flea/tick and heartworm prevention (dogs) as well as heartworm tested (dogs).   Ruff Start Rescue is a foster-based rescue. Animals are located in homes throughout Minnesota. We do not have a facility where animals are kept.
