Please read the following carefully before submitting your adoption application. We understand each situation and adopter is unique so don’t be discouraged if you don’t meet all the criteria listed below.
Applicants must 18 years old or older.
Applications must be filled out completely.
Applicants must agree to a home inspection and meet-and-greet prior to adoption.
We know that sometimes not all animals get along, so we like any current pet(s) in the home to meet the potential new pet before an adoption is finalized.
Dogs should not be left crated for more than eight hours per day. If you have plans for an caretaker/walker/etc. during your time away from home, please note that in your application.
Your resident pets should be spayed/neutered and up-to-date on vaccinations. If there is a medical reason they are not, you can discuss this with a placement coordinator once your application is submitted.
Please be aware of any rental or association restrictions, such as breed restrictions, number of pets allowed, weight requirements, etc.
If for any reason you are unable to keep your adopted pet, we ask you return them to Ruff Start Rescue.
As a part of our adoption agreement, we do not allow any medically-unnecessary surgical procedures, such as: declawing; defanging; debarking, or cropping/docking tail or ears. We are able to offer solutions to common problems, so please contact us before you make any permanent physical change to your pet.
