Havana

Havana, now “Savana” has been such a joy to our family! We adopted her in May 2012 when she was 4 months old. We also have a 6yr old weimaraner named Princess. Yes, Princess was skeptical when we first brought Savana home but after a few months they were inseparable! Savana absolutely loves the snow and could play outside for hours! She is definitely the explorer. Her favorite thing to do is wrestle with her big sister! They sometimes fight over doggy beds, but Princess always let’s her have her way. She LOVES ice cubes and could eat them all day. We are so blessed to have Savana and I don’t know what I would do without her! Ruff Start Rescue saved her life and she definitely saved mine. She’s our little stinker!

Honey

Honey, lounging with her brother :)

Huey

"Huey is doing great! I can't thank you enough. I am so grateful for you for taking care of Huey and starting him off on such a great foot. Here he is pictured with his new big brother, Abe. There was a moment yesterday when they were laying down and Abe had his paw draped over Huey, and I think both of our hearts skipped a beat... :) Thanks again! ~Lindsey"

Homer

Homer is adjusting very well. He still has the mind of a puppy which can be very challanging at times due to his size. He bonded quickly to my husband Joe the first week. Joe would work with him and walk him twice a day. Then Joe had shoulder surgery and it was a challange to keep Homer away from his arm. I would have to keep him on a leash in the house but we all adjusted to the new routine. I work with him everyday when I do chores. He has gotten use to the horses, pig and rabbit. However, he wants to chase the 2 barn cats. I think it is because they run from him because occasionally they will let him get close and then he loses interest. I do not trust him loose yet so I have to be on my toes when he spots the cats or he will give me a good yank. He is doing good with sit and learning heal, come and wait. We decided to try a gentle leader and he is like a different dog. Yea - no more pulling when he gets overly excited. I also gave him a bath this weekend with the help of my daughter. It took us about 40 minutes of coaxing to get him in the bath tub. But once he was in he behaved perfect. We are still working on barking. He's a welcome addition to our family. Thank you for everything, Ruff Start Rescue.

Hope

Hope was brought to RSR in January 2010. She was sick with heartworm in a shelter in Ohio. She was almost out of time when Azure (the President of RSR) decided she could make a difference and went out on a limb and told the shelter she would take Hope to become part of a newly developing resue. Azure contacted www.pilotsnpaws.org and arranged ground trasnportation from Ohio to Illinois. Then a volunteer pilot and his wife flew Hope and 1 other rescue dog right into the Princeton, MN airport from Illinois. Hope arrived as a sick dog with good spirits. She was placed into a wonderful foster home that gave her the love and attention she needed and deserved. The fosters fell in love with Hope and decided to adopt her. Hi Guys! I started with fostering Hope and within days she had totally won over everyone in our home. End result...I adopted Hope as she is the light of our lives!!! Thank You Azure & Ruff Start Rescue!
